It's almost time for the Minnesota State Fair or the Minnesota Eat Together! I can't wait! I usually try something different each year. Last year it was a pork chop on a stick. Very tasty! I know it's something that I've eaten before, however, it's not something I've eaten at the fair and it's not something that I've eaten on a stick before, hahaha.... Of course I have to get my staples-pickle on a stick or the fried pickles (I'll take my pickles either way), pronto pup, and warm chocolate chip cookies! Steve wants to try the chocolate covered bacon. Doesn't sound good to me at all! I don't think that will be my new item for this year.

This year there is some sidewalk art that is in 3D. I'm looking forward to seeing that. You see that in e-mails, but I've never seen it in person.

I like going to the fair at night. It's fun walking down the Midway with all the lights. There's something about the excitement of it that makes you feel like a kid again. If only you could close your eyes and be a kid again!

Book Club at Cafe Latte'

I thought this banner was hilarious, so I had to add it!

Last night I had a book club meeting at Cafe Latte'. It's always fun to get together with this group of women. There's always a bunch of different conversations going on at the same time and every once in a while it's fun to just stop and listen to it all. It's just crazy madness of chatter. None of us knew each other and it's just amazing how we can find stuff to talk about. Everything from the book (that lasted for about 5 minutes), making home made pizza, kickboxing and ultimate fighting to summer vacations.

I car pooled with another person and we found a few tables to put together once we got there. After that I got in line to decide on what yummy desert I would like to try. They all looked so good! I couldn't decide, so I ended up getting a coffee. The food also looked delicious!! I'm going to have to go back sometime to try something. When I got back another person asked if I wanted to split a desert, so I agreed. She got a raspberry/lemon tort. Very good! Nice and light and it tasted very refreshing. Good summertime desert!

I do have to say that I didn't read the book. It kind of felt like I didn't do my homework! We aren't required to read the book, so I didn't feel too bad. The book was Names My Sister Calls Me by Megan Crane. Sounds like there were some mixed reviews, so I don't think I missed anything. Next month is the Memory Keeper's Daughter, which I have already read. That gives me plenty of time to read the next one and to read up on others that I want to read.

I'm still trying to figure out how to add things to this blog and so far I've only been able to add pictures to the side. I'll get the hang of this sooner or later!

Giving this a try....

I've heard and seen about many blogs and now have decided to give this a try. I suppose it's a good place to post thoughts and ideas and to even vent!

It's Friday today and I'm so glad! I really want to sleep in tomorrow. I just got back this past Sunday from a trip to New York City. I went with my husband, best friend (Jen) and her husband (Roy). We had a great time. We saw all the touristy sites and we also stayed about 5 blocks from Times Square. That was really nice. The weather was very hot and humid, that was expected. There were also a lot of European tourists.

Not much going on for the weekend. It will be nice to just relax since we were just on vacation the week before. We'll probably be working on our landscaping project that we've been working on all summer! It never ends!
