A day at the zoo

We went to the Minnesota Zoo this past Sunday. What a beautiful day to be there! The weather was perfect. Evan really wasn't too into it, but he did enjoy the fish, sheep, goat, and leopard. He really enjoyed watching the leopard pace back and forth in front of the window. His head would swivel back and forth. He really liked the goats. I think that's because they were the size of our dogs. He got to pet them and I tried to show him how to be gentle.

At the end of the day he got to have his first lick of ice cream - mint chocolate chip. Probably the favorite part of his day!

Unhealthy few weeks

The last few weeks have been unhealthy ones in our house. Steve has been the only one not getting sick. Evan ended up getting pink eye. We have no idea where he picked that up from. Then I ended up getting an ear infection, cold, and possible pink eye. Evan is better now and hopefully I start to get better soon!

Easter is fast approaching and we can't wait to celebrate Evan's first Easter and hang out with Steve's family. Hopefully the Easter bunny will be good this year!

Off to the Doctor...

Yesterday we had our first non-wellness visit. Evan has pink eye. He woke up yesterday afternoon with a pink and swollen eye. Off to the Doctor we went. We got a prescription for some eye drops and he started those. Tonight he looks much better and we'll be back on schedule tomorrow. I'm sure this is the first of many visits to the Doctor. We've been lucky so far. 10 months without a non-wellness visit is pretty good!

Another busy weekend..busy week..and spring is coming!

What a beuatiful, but busy weekend!! This week has also been very nice. I can't wait until spring is here permanently!

We got together with some friends this past weekend. Evan, Steve and I went and visited with Jen and her family for a few hours. Her sister, Laura, gave Evan a plastic slide. I'm sure he will love that this summer. After that we headed out to dinner with some friends at Ichiban's. Mom and Dad got a break for a few hours and Evan got to spend time with Grandma Helen. Ichiban's was fun. The chefs always put on a good show. Sunday my family was over for a nice late lunch/early dinner. The day was so beautiful we got to take the dogs out for a walk.

Every day we watch Evan learn and grow. We love watching him learn how to do new things himself. He loves to discover new things. He can now crawl up the stairs, walk up and down them and is pulling himself up to cruise around the table or furniture. He will be 10 months old in 6 days. I can't believe how fast he is growing and how time is flying by. We love each and every minute we spend with him.

Weekend

We had a very nice weekend. Saturday Steve and I went out to dinner for our 3rd anniversary. Evan got to spend a few hours with Grandma Helen. We had a very nice time at Chianti Grill. The food was good. We thought about eating backwards - having desert then ending with the salad just so you feel better about yourself.

Sunday we got ready for our new kitchen countertops that were going to come today. I'll be posting some before and after pictures.

Monday the countertops came. They look great! I'm very happy with them. I wasn't sure if it would make the room look too dark, but they don't. I'm glad that we decided to do them so we get the chance to enjoy them if we every decide to sell our house. That is probably a few years off though.

The weekends go by way too quick. There always seems like there's so much to do and never enough time to do it!!

Long Time....

I haven't written on this blog in a LONG time! Well, I can't provide an update for 2 years since a lot can happen in that amount of time! We now have welcomed a son born on May 23rd. We named him Evan. He has brought a lot of joy to our life. We love watching learn new things and I love to watch him as he tries to figure life out. Time has definitely gone by too fast and we'll soon be celebrating his first birthday. As we approach this big milestone it makes me appreciate every minute I have with him.

The Unofficial End to Summer....

I can't believe that it's September already. Labor Day marks the "unofficial" end to summer. It definitely felt like it! Monday (Labor Day) it was 90 degrees and Tuesday it was 65!

Labor Day weekend was pretty relaxing. Saturday I spent the day mostly running errands. We also tempted to make our own pizza. I'm pretty sure we did something to mess up the crust. It dind't rise very well and it was kind of doughy when we cooked it. Oh well, the toppings made it taste okay! We watched 21 at night. That was a pretty good movie. It went by fast and was entertaining. I thought he was pretty stupid for hiding his money in the ceiling tiles, but that's just my personal opinion.

Sunday we took our 2 dogs to the dog park, or as I like to refer to it now, Dog Disneyworld. They love to run around and of course they have sniff other dogs in inappropriate places. We spent about 2 hours there. The dogs were exhausted when we got home which is really nice!

Monday it was off to the State Fair with my best friend Jen and her husband Roy. We all had a great time. It was extremely hot though and we only stayed for a few hours. Steve and Roy tried the chocolate covered bacon. I had a small bite and I didn't like it at all. We got the usual fair foods - deep fried pickles (yummy!), cheese curds and chocolate chip cookies (we took these home). We saw some 3D sidewalk art, but most of the color had faded by then. I was also hoping there would be more drawings. There were only 2.

Now it's back to the daily work grind. Traffic has been bad after work because of the Republican National Convention. I'm glad today's the last day of that! I'm ready for another weekend and some FOOTBALL!
